THIS MERGER IS A BAD THING

The projected merger of the UNC and Carolinas Healthcare hospital systems is very bad news for everyone except the executives of those two organizations. We can expect the following: 1) layoffs, 2) higher prices for everything from procedures to medication, which will lead to 3) higher insurance premiums to cover those higher prices and 4) higher copayments and deductibles for people who need care at these facilities. Also 5) an increasingly nonresponsive bureaucracy to deal with, 6) even more heartless attempts to collect medical debt from those who have already lost the health and their savings and, finally, 7) much higher compensation for these smiling jokers below.
