Why is our Republican state legislature against personal responsibility?

The Republicans in the NC House and Senate are preparing to consider a bill that would severely limit compensation for injured workers here.  What happens if the bill passes?  Insurance companies and self-insured employers would pocket the money that would otherwise have gone to injured workers and their doctors.  Injured workers would be more likely to be forced onto Social Security Disability and food stamps to pay their bills and would be more likely to rely on Medicare and Medicaid to pay their medical bills.  Who pays for these programs?  We do!!!!  If an employee is injured while making money for his or her employer, it should be the employer who pays to make it right, not us!
